Lately.....

I have not been doing to much stitching this last week, as I have been too busy reading 'An Elm Creek Quilts Sampler'!

I purchased this a Easter Saturday. It was in a Launceston Book Store on one of the front tables. I have seen it around the blogs/web for a while and thought about getting myself a copy. So, while in the book shop, I held onto it, deciding....... deciding........ ok! MINE!! Anyway, while I was enjoying it so much, I decided to buy the next 2 books in the series online - only to find out, when I got through a 1/3rd of this book, the next novel was included!! Bugger! On further inspection, I realised that the first 3 novels were in this book (it does say it on the cover, but silly me thought it just meant 3 stories!! DUH)! Luckily, the online store I purchased those books from has a chain in Launceston and they have told me that I can return them PHEW!! Then, last night, I decided to buy the 4th book in the series..... when I can across 'Elm Creek Quilts Album' which contained books 4, 5 and 6!! The book actually cost a little more than a 1 single book - so they are a great bargain! Not sure if the following books are together like these first two..... anyone know?

I hope you are enjoying your weekend.

They are really good books aren't they? I think it helps that we love quilting so much! ;) I have the Elm Creek Quilts Album with books 4, 5, and 6 in it - I'm not sure if any others come in volumes like that, as I haven't seen any others than the one you have and the one I have. A good place to get these books inexpensively is Half Priced Books. I bought volume for $7 there brand new. ;)

I have read them all and love them and wish they would make a couple of movies out of them. That would be just fabulous :) I think all the rest are single ones :)

These are terrific books. I read 6 and am now going back and reading them again, but in a different order. I found her web site(www.elmcreek.net) and she mentions that you don't have to, but can read them in chronological order(loosely). Based on what she stated and going through the descriptions here is my "loose" list.

Sugar Camp Quilt-Runaway Quilt-Lost Quilter-Quilters Apprentice-Christmas Quilter-Quilters Homecoming-Round Robin-Cross Country Quilters-Quilters Legacy-New Year Quilt-Master Quilter-Winding Ways Quilt-Circle of Quilters-Quilters Kitchen-Quilters Holiday-Aloha Quilter

Not to get you in any deeper but she also has 3 wonderful quilt books based on the quilts in her books.

Blessings,
Jilly

Only the first six books come three to a book, the rest are all individual - hope you love them as much as I have. Go to the book depository website, they post anywhere for free and are much cheaper than in Australia.

When the first book came out I was browsing through a quilt shop and saw it there. I bought it and let it rest on a shelf for a very long time. When I finally read it I was wondering why I waited to read it and was hooked on the series when the other books started coming out. I've collected them all and enjoy reading and re-reading. The Elm Creek Quilters inspired me to form my own mini-group in 2002 and we still meet monthly as the Thursday Quilters and I often write about them on my blog. Enjoy your reads!
