80th Birthday NAN - gift

May seems to be the month for Birthday's in not just my family, but Dennis's too! I think there is about 8 or more and there is also Mother's Day too!

Well today, the last day in May, it is my Nan's 80th Birthday! I tell you, she is VERY hard to buy for! Usually every year before her Birthday and Christmas, she goes on a spending spree and buys herself everything she needs, so you have nothing to buy her! I don't know why she does it, but she does! LOL!

This year, Mum and Myself decided to make her a quilt together. Being in different parts of Australia it was a little bit of a challenge. So, it was decided that Mum was to make the quilt top, and send it down to me to supply backing, wadding, quilt and bind it. Hmmmmm...... Who got the hard bit?!

Anyway, after burning the midnight oil, I managed to finish it last night before bed! I think she will love it (even though she used to say quilts did nothing for her!)! She sure changed her mind when my Mum her daughter started to quilt!

I am not much of a purple gal, but this quilt went with my lounge suite very well:

And, Sophie had to put her stamp of approval on it before it was wrapped up................

Been at work today, so I will popping around shortly to give it to her!

So that's 2 finishes for May...... Seems I am not going as well as last year!

Wow Sarah! You did an amazing job on the finish! Looks so different. Love the backing colour. And I think I got the hard part!mmmm.... The reason for the violets was because when I was a wee lass they were growing wild outside my bedroom window {Roseanne's house now} Next time you are around nan's can you do a photo of it on her bed? thanks, mum

I'm sure your nan will be delighted with her beautiful quilt - she is very lucky (my DAD just turned 80!! His mum was born in 1893! I did meet her when I was 6 in 1980...)Have a lovely birthday for her.

If I was your Nan I would LOVE the quilt. It is beautiful. Your Mum did a great job on the top and it has come together really well.

Hope she had a wonderful 80th birthday.
