Mum's Photo cushion

This cushion was made by my Mum, (Gail) for my Nan (her MIL) for Mothers Day! My Mum has NEVER been a sewer, when we were young if anything needed repairing it always went to my Nan!! Then, afew years ago she discovered 'scrapbooking'. She made me an album along with afew family members which were just fantastic!! Me, I have always enjoyed sewing, and was into doll making, wallhanging and small quilts. Then, after seeing what my Mum created with paper, I started dabbling in scrapbooking too. I found this GREAT site and made afew of their ideas!!Then one day, I got the shock of my life when Mum told me she wanted to get into quilting!! OMG!! Neither I or my Nan's could not believe it!! She has made some beautiful things and her family (especially her Mum and MIL) look forward to receiving her 'creations'!!

This cushion she made is sort of scrapping!! She has printed on fabric with 3 photos of Nan and Pop's wedding - even a map of where they were married "Albury'.

With a combination of lace and antique buttons it makes it look sort of 'antique or old world'.

Needless to say, Nan just *loved* it!!
I actually thought Mum might 'upgrade' her blog and put this up!!

My mum turns 70 next year and I have been wanting to make her a quilt with pictures of her children and gradchildren. Your mother did a great job and now has encouraged me to go forth and do the quilt for mum. Well done to your mum.
