What's on the Gammill Friday

Firstly I would like to say THANKYOU so much for all the lovely emails I have received about our news!  I am really humbled by it all!  We have been working SO hard this last week, my quilting pile is growing, but just have not had time (or energy) to do many!  Hence the lack of me being here on my little blog.  Though if you would like to see what I am up to, I am on Instagram under @patchworksplus

Anyway, today's WOTGF quilt is still quilting away!  After a full day of painting, we ended up coming home at 4pm, got cleaned up and then I started this beauty, made by the lovely 'E'!  E is the Scrap Queen!  She sure makes some lovely quilts, and she has featured in the WOTGF as a regular :+)

Here is a close up of the quilting:

Now I have a question for you.  I have quite a few quilting clients who like an edge to edge over their quilts, applique and stitchery too (like this one above).  They say it makes them more washable, and more secured!  They don't like the effect it gives going around.  I personally have had a quilt done many years ago, that I chose to go around the large applique pieces only to be a little disappointed about the puffiness it makes.

Can you see the stitching over the stitchery?  What do you like?  Quilt around or over?

Lovely quilt Sarah, "E" will be very pleased I'm sure.

I don't like the stitcheries quilted over myself but it would have to be a personal thing.

The quilting on this one looks quite nice. I guess for me, it would depend if there was a lot of hand stitchery or not. Hugs.....

Got to say I prefer edge to edge as I too have the same problem with my Truly Scrumptious guilt as I quilted around the stitchery and the don't sit flat like the rest.
Lovely work to "E"

Lovely quilt by E....I have always quilted around stitcheries Sarah, and I agree they are puffy....but I do like what you have done here, may have to rethink what to do next time..

Interesting question, I've been pondering this all week as I've handquilted a wallhanging with an 8x8" stitchery in it. I stitched around it, but don't like the way it 'hangs', even thought I kept my hoop taut.
