This past week I have been doing some binding. 2 quilts..... The first one I wanted to have a go at
this 'new to me' binding method where you machine stitch your binding down on the back, flip it over and hand stitch with a running stitch (don't go through to the bottom). I used 2 strands of DMC.... I totally love this effect, it makes it look more snugly, if you know what I mean. And its quicker! When I do it the traditional way, my stitches are smaller, therefore takes longer! More on this quilt later.
The other quilt is my Tilda one. I am really, REALLY loving it! Binding the traditional way, and thats only because I sewed it on before I actually started hand binding the top one. I cant wait to show you.... soon I promise!
How do you bind your quilts?

The traditional way...but I do like the other way...may have to try this thanks Sarah...
The same as your second photo. I like your new method though and think it would look nice on quilts with lots of embroidery on them. Hugs.....
I do the traditional way too.....but rather like your running stitch method......wish you'd done this post a few days ago as it would have suited my baby quilt.
I bind mine like you do in the bottom pic......Can't see the stitches........
I'm a traditional girl too but I can see that the running stitch would suit lots of quilts.
love the look of the running stitch to hold down the binding. Will definitely have a go. Your tilda quilt looks amazing. So pretty.
I bind the traditional way but when I had over 20 baby-SB quilts to do in less than two months I tried cluckclucksew's machine binding method and it worked a treat. However this method wouldn't suit every quilt, and for most quilts I will continue to go traditional to bind.
