I constructed this differently to other quilts. I pieced it, quilted it, then bound it, then after all those parts were done, I did the applique. I wanted to see how the applique would look doing the applique after the quilting process. I generally don't like the 'puffyness' of quilting around such big shapes so by quilting it first you don't get that look. And it looked wonderful!
Here is a close up of my quilting:
The pattern for this quilt is called Abundance, and since I pieced it at The Cherry Shed early this year, I have decided to name my quilt: Abundance of Cherries.
Another project off my long list of UFO's!

It's good to have a finish, and try a new technique.

A beautiful quilt all finished and ready to snuggle with. Gorgeous quilting pattern. I do a lot of my machine applique like that. When I used to quilt on my domestic I would do the applique after stitching in the ditch - it saved double work for me with going around the shapes twice and made it look nice on the back too. Quilts with large appliques are great for it - Little Macca's Farm for one.
Again a gorgeous quilt, you should be so pleased - you are getting a few finished this year, well done!
