Quick...... A finish!!

I'm back!!! I didn't venture far, just been busy playing with my new toy!! More in a day or two!

Today, I wanted to share MY spring purse. I made the other's for my 2 lovely sisters-in-law, and thought I needed one for me too - plus my business has been asked if I would like to have a trade table at the Longford Friendship Day so I needed one for my sample!

I had a tiny amount of this fabric left over from some borders of a quilt and I JUST scrapped enough to make my purse from it:

And, like the other 2, I choose a Theodor Cleave button for my embellishment:

Perfect! So I DO have a finish for the month!!

Technique

After chatting to Roseanne the other day about glueing our Hexagons, it occured to me that others might want to know this little tip I have learnt.

When I put my glue strip on, I dont put it too close to the edge. This way, when stitching them together, the needle glides in SO much easier than when the glue is right at the tip of the paper. You can see from some of these pics....

Try it! You will see what I mean!

I am still here................

With last week off work (as well as this week), I have been doing some hexie sewing as my night time hand sewing! So, from 9 to 29 - stitching number 30 at the moment.

Kate and Myself have chosen to do our quilt in Nancy Halvorsen fabrics - no particular range, just mix them up a bit as they all work well together, and it really is a great choice I think..... They look fantastic!

Here is my little pile:

Layed out on the floor:

It did seem like I had done quite a bit, until I layed them all out!

Definitely a long term project!

If you want to check out LOTS more hexies, pop over to the Hexie blog HERE, you wont be disappointed.

With a whole week off last week, I decided to get stuck into the many quilts I had here to do. Actually, got through MOST of the pile when on Friday, when I had about 12" left of a border to quilt my Darning Foot smashed in half! A quick call to the sewing shop in Launceston, they seemed to think they had one, but was not too confidant as my machine is a industrial type domestic...... Dennis picked it up on the way home and when I tried it, it wasn't quite right! So, just cut a bit off and I was set!

I have lots to tell, maybe tomorrow...............

In the life of a dog......

The last couple of nights, I have been getting back into my Hexies after seeing SO many beautiful blooms about! Last night, it was blowing a gale, raining, thundering and even lightning. Perfect stitching weather.....

A view from my lounge chair: My messy couch:

Did you see Miss Sophie among all that?!

I always have an old quilt on the bottom to protect the leather from her claws (even though she is a very gentle pooch), and either mine or Dennis's Quillow over the back. She has a habit of doing what we call 'donuts' (spinning round and round) until the quilt hanging over falls down, and she wiggles and wiggles until she is under it! Can you see what else is under there?

She is cuddling her pink sheep!

Its a dogs life!
