Craft & Quilt Fair

Today I went to the fair, the Craft & Quilt Fair in Launceston! The last few years it has been in Hobart, and I wasn't at all keen the last time I went, and decided I wouldn't bother going again, but being in Lonnie, I decided to give it one last go.... And, I am SO glad I did! It was totally awesome!

I went with my 2 lovely, creative sisters-in-law! Judy the paper craft extraordinaire (she makes the most beautiful cards and is a Stampin Up demonstrator - if you are interested in a party in the Tas send me a message and I will put you in touch with her, who I might add is going to get a blog happening soon too!) and Roseanne my sewing buddy!

The Silverdome was looking great:

There was some beautiful quilts on display too, and I managed to take a couple of pics of my favourites..... Check this one out! Awesome hey! Raw edge applique and paint/pencils:

And for all those Dear Jane lovers, there was a finished one there! Beautiful in the flesh I must say!

And, I also came across this hexagon quilt:

I thought my Hexie buddies would like to check out the way this was constructed:

I did make a few purchases, and I shall pop back tomorrow and show you all then.

Actually, I have heaps to show you! I am now using my 'new' laptop (it is about 6 months old) and I have finally got everything swapped over from my old one, and finding my feet is testing! I will get there!

See you all tomorrow!

Hexagons

I am going great guns with my Tis The Season for the Stitch-A-Long Blog, and thought I would have a little break before I start the very last stitchery block! So, when my order for the Patchwork With Busy Fingers papers and bits arrived I whipped up these 2 hexagons for The Vignette Hexagon Quilt Blog a couple of nights ago:

Took me AGES to decide on fabrics - probably longer than it took to make these 2 hexagons! I do have a FQ Bundle of Sweet Broderie which I cant bear to cut into yet, I then thought of my Thimbleberries Charms collection which I purchased many years ago, but then again I don't want to cut into just in case I didn't have quite enough....... So, the decision was made to use scraps! Yes, good idea!

Then, when searching for my first couple of fabrics, I came across my collection of Nancy Halverson fabrics:

Such beautiful fabrics:

Now I cant decide if to do a scrappy one (never actually made a scrappy quilt before, and worry that it wont go!!) OR do a Nancy Halverson scrappy one....... What do you think? I am such a worry wart lol?!

Hatched & Patched Swap

Our online sewing group had a Hatched & Patched swap and I was to make for the lovely Jane! I decided to make the 'Love of a Family Cushion' and the 'Home Framed Picture' from the Family Values book. Here is the cushion. Made using Whimsy fabrics:
'The Love Of A Family Goes Round And Round And Round' is the stitched verse:

The fabrics used in the frame is also Whimsy. I had a white frame ready to go, but it just did not look right as the stitchery was done in cream! The only colour that I thought matched was the brown.....

Here is a close up of my stitching and needleturn:

Glad you liked them Jane! I have the home stitchery done ready to put together for myself!

I will be back tomorrow to share with you all the most wonderful gift my lovely friend Christine made for me!

Quilting

There has been lots happening around here with work, placement, website/quilting, swap gifts and MY stitching! But, I did manage to snap these pics of this totally GORGEOUS quilt I recently quilted. I was SO nervous quilting it, and in the end, it looked great! The work on this quilt was very exquisite!
The most teeny tiny needle turn pieces were stitched on perfectly!

Puts mine to shame! I must practice some more..........

The Vignette Hexagon Quilt

Hey everyone!

Leanne and Myself have decided to make the 'Hexagon Quilt' in issue 2 and 3 of Leanne Beasley's Vignette magazine after seeing the original in the flesh. Talk about beautiful!

For me, I have decided that I will use only scraps (as I have SO much, but don't hold me to it) and plan to make mine in-between projects if I don't have much hand sewing going on!

Anyone interested in joining us on this journey? If so, please leave us a comment on The Vignette Hexagon Blog, if you are a no-reply blogger you will need to leave us your email address so we can send you an invite so that you are able to post on the blog. You can grab our button and attach it to your blog and link us if you like.

So, who is up for a challenge?
