Tis The Season

Not too much machine sewing going on here of late! But, I have managed to stitch the first 5 blocks for Tis The Season as I joined the Stitch-A-Long blog and this is this years project! I am thinking, I might get them stitched, then look at putting them together:
I think this Angel one is my favourite so far!

7 to go........

If you haven't popped over to the Stitch-A-Long blog, you must. There are some lovely fabric choices. I chose similar to the original as I liked the idea of the pink and red theme!

Gathering - Part 2

Part 2: I decided to take my Vignette Noticeboard with me for 'show and tell'. Leanne kindly offered to take my pic with Leanne (thanks Leanne!): So, what did I work on for the day? I made a start on my Paper Piecing Dresden's. I tell you, these are SO much fun! Leanne's 'Needle Roll' pattern has 4 half Dresden's, so I thought I would start on those, and this is all I did. I got ONE half one done - for the WHOLE day lol! I took some of my own fabrics - scraps of Nancy Halverson, and made a pink and green half:

Then Sunday morning, I decided to make a random one using the Nancy fabrics. I totally love them!

Here is a pic of Me and Rosalie (I look a bit tired, it was the end of the day!):

Another of Rosalie's patterns for the day, a stitchery stretched over canvas. Jan made a start on this using blue thread which will look so pretty.

Leanne shared with us some blocks from her 'Vignette In Stitches' quilt. Only the ones from the magazines so far......

And, the Hexagon Quilt. This is totally awesome! Some of the interesting fussy cutting patterns were just beautiful. You may be able to click on the pic for a better look:

I am very, VERY tempted to start this quilt!

Here is Fee, all ready to go home... Check out all those shopping bags lol!

Thanks to the Crow Girls for such an amazing day, it was just wonderful to have it at the Church, it looked AMAZING! Thanks to Leanne and Rosalie! Lovely designs for the day. You girls are awesome! And, to my table buddies..... Thanks for such a FUN day xx

Gathering - Part 1

What a day we had yesterday! I left home in the dark, and got home in the dark! Guest tutors for the day was Leanne and Rosalie as well as The Crow girls, Leonie and Deirdre. There was a table all set up for us blogger buddies to sit together. Back: Leanne, Roseanne, Liz and Vicki. Front: Me, Jo, Fee and Jan. It was SO nice to catch up with them all! And, Jan even traveled from Vic to visit us! It was lovely to finally meet her!
Here is Leanne showing Liz, Raz and Jan how to do perfect satin stitches. I look forward to seeing some perfect stitches from these girls now lol!

The Crow was set up SO beautifully with Rosalie and Leanne's gorgeous samples:

Here is Leanne's project for the day. A Needle Roll. How cute! Many of the girls chose to start this, and I can tell you that NOT much stitching was going on lol

Here is the inside of the roll - a place for needles at one side on the Dresden, a little bag for your thread, cotton and bits as well as a pocket at the other side. Cute don't you think?! Leanne says this will be part of a set!
Here is one of Rosalie's projects. A needle turn project for fussy cutting. Was quite cute too!

I didn't take too many pics, but I do have more to tell. I don't want to overload you today, so I shall pop back tomorrow to share.

PS: I also wanted to say big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my Dad! I hope you are enjoying your special day xxxxxxx

Wetlands & Sewing Day

So much for tomorrow, but hey, better late than never right?!

We took the new camera out to take some nature pics, so we decided to visit The Tamar River Wetlands. We both had never been before, and it was a lovely warm day, and the walk out to Tamar Island was lovely!

I thought I would share some pics:
Walking the boardwalk:

Over one of three bridges:

Sadly the tide was out:

Here is a view before we went to Tamar Island:

We will have to go another day, when the tide is in......
Tomorrow, I will be up bright and early for my road trip! I will be picking Roseanne and Leanne up on the way, and we are headed off to the Quilted Crow for their Gathering! I am SO looking forward to it! Guest tutors are Leanne Beasley and Rosalie Quinlan.
Catching up with a heap of other blogger gals, it is going to be so much fun!
I must pack my sewing bag, and charge my camera battery!

Brady's Lookout

Last Monday was a public holiday here, so Dennis and myself decided to take the SLR camera out to take some pics (and of course I took along my little one, because I just don't get a look in when it comes to that camera lol).

Just 40 minutes away from home, is Brady's Lookout. We both had not been there since we were kids:

Total amazing views from there. Here are some pics I took with my little Canon Cyber Shot:

I think this one is my favourite of them all:

We also went to the Wetlands to take some pics. We had never been there before, and there always seems to be heaps of cars there in the car park. I took heaps of pics there too, I will pop back and show you tomorrow!
I hope you all enjoyed your weekend!

A gift for me

My lovely sister-in-law made me this BEAUTIFUL little jewelery pouch! It is just SO cute!

I have put my sewing bracelet in it that I purchased of Amanda Brooke a long while ago.... It is one of my favourite pieces of jewelery (besides my Pandora that is!!):

Lottie is keeping an eye on it.......

Thanks Roseanne, you are very thoughtful! I love it!

Look what I found

While looking in only 2 tubs of fabric yesterday I found some fabric I had forgotten about!

Like this Robyn Pandolph. I think this is 'Simply Irresistible'?

' Spencer Museum':

'Seaside Roses':

'Chelsea Boutique'. I searched everywhere for a Jelly Roll, but had to settle with these which I have NEVER done anything with!!

A 'Little Romance' kit:

'Swell' kit:

Madeira, Shangri La, and Wee Play in their collectors tins as well as 3 more Jelly Rolls (I think there is Simplicity, Poetry Collection and another Shangri La in this box)..... I do have HEAPS more Jelly Rolls than this!

Shame shame! I am not game to check the other tubs!! And, I also have a couple of baskets full of kits!

12 blocks sitting in a row.........

Here is the big reveal! I was thinking I would not have enough lights in this quilt (as I ran out from the stash I had), but I think it didn't really need it now I see them all together like this!

Now the dilemma of how on earth will I put them together! I would LOVE suggestions on this. Helen has already finished hers completely and Lynda has the top completed. Talk about 2 gorgeous quilts!

The thing with my quilt is that I used what I had of 2 ranges.... Chocolat by 3 Sisters and Rhubarb and Ginger from Blackbird Designs. As I made this from FQ's I don't have much left at all.

But, I just had a bit of a hunt and found these. 14 Fq's of Rhubarb and Ginger:

AND, a couple of metres of the purple and 1 mtr of the brown.....

AND, 16 fq's of Chocolat! So much for thinking I didn't have ANY lights left!

I was thinking:
1. As I have a lot of the Rhubarb and Ginger left, maybe I could leave that to make something completely out of that!
2. Use the purple from the Rhubarb and Ginger for the borders? I wont use all of it though.
3. Was thinking of joining them altogether with flying geese. I could use the lights from the Chocolat? With purple border?
4. Maybe joined with Flying Geese with a Piano Keys border with a mix of everything?
5. Try to purchase some more of what will work?
I would LOVE some help here....

Last block

I have finally got around to making my last FIS BOM block! This is called Teresa's Pinwheel.
Try as I might, one side seam just would not line up! Un-pick, un-pick so I left it!

Tomorrow, I shall lay out all my blocks together to see what they look like. Still undecided on how I will put them together. Makes it a bit hard when I don't have any big bits left!

Another March finish

A couple of weeks ago, I finished this GORGEOUS stitchery! I finally managed to actually complete the project last night!

Here it is! It is a Block Keeper from Gail Pan Designs called 'Little Bird Sewing Set'. As soon as I saw this pattern, I just knew I had to make one! I know I already have 2 block keepers (yes Roseanne, my 3rd lol!) but this is a smaller size one and will fit my smaller projects in, like Tis the Season, My Garden or Christmas Fun.

Talk about quick to put together! And, I added an extra 'page' to mine too.... That way it will hold more blocks as I dont seem to find much time for machine sewing lately!

Block 1, Tis the Season - my 'in-between project'.

I have managed to stitch a couple of Tis the Season, but I must get cracking on my FIS gift SOON!

First finish for March

Our online stitching Group does a little Birthday swap every year...... I was to make the lovely Teresa a gift. The challenge this year was to make something that begins with the letter on which you live. Me, I live in George Town, so I had to make something beginning with the letter G! I did have a few ideas, but when Leanne released this GORGEOUS pattern: 'Sweet Love and Kisses Gift Bag' I knew I had to make one! So, this is Teresa's 'G' for Gift Bag!

These little bags are SO cute! I might have to stitch some up to have on hand!

Pic stolen from Teresa, as in my haste in posting, I didnt take a group pic!

I decided to add some other G things too.... some Guylian chocolate, a Gail Pan pattern and a Girl Scrapbook. Glad you had a wonderful day Teresa xx
This past week has been a bit hectic here, and I am SO behind in everything from blog reading, to getting the big pile of quilts done! This week, I have planned a BIG catch up.... Here's hoping!
