Fig Club progress

I was very inspired the other day while blog hopping! I have been SO behind with my blog reading (and commenting too I might add) due to being away and with the quilting work piling up. Christine has finished her Fig Club 'Twinkle' quilt top and I must say..... GORGEOUS!! While Dennis was in bed yesterday (night shift), I decided to sew up a few blocks which now adorn my Design Wall:

10 down, 20 to go!!

Block 1 a & b were SO quick and easy to put together! Breakfast At Tiffany's is such a beautiful range!

I have even made a start on Block 2!
I know I should be doing other stuff, but when inspiration hits, you have to go with it!
I always get HEAPS of emails when I mention my Design Wall..... Mine is a 'Clover' product and is just put in place with thumb tacks, but a piece of wadding would work just as well...... No use going out spending a fortune, the cheap wadding works well or even some felt! You can test a piece by placing a piece of fabric on to it and placing it against the wall to make sure it stays. Easy!
I have a whole month off over the Christmas period, so plan to get this top done then...... ready for project 2 lol!

Weekend sewing

3 finished items for November! Just finished 2 of the Christmas Goose Baskets. One in red:

And one in green:

I actually had a little trouble sewing around the top edge. My machine kept on getting 'bogged' in the side seams due to the thickness! This is VERY annoying as my machine is SUPPOSED to sew through 15 layers of denim..... Yeah right! Anyway, it didn't take too long to hand sew down and I like the effect:

I cant finish the others yet, I need some more handles which my lovely friend will be picking up for me on Saturday..... Which reminds me, must tidy this bomb of a sewing room before she comes LOL!
Remember the little Red Brolly stitchery from last post...... Well, I made a little Mug Bag from it:

Teamed with a Mug which I am going to fill with chocolates for a gift:

Pretty productive weekend!

I hope you are enjoying your weekend too!

Christmas Sewing

Promised a week or so ago, here are some pics of my latest hand stitching efforts, for Christmas gifts. No not 3, there are 6 finished here, another started, and another traced off ready to go, so 8 in total will be made (if I can stop at that many!)!

I had been doing these on my breaks at work, and at home. The Christmas Goose baskets from here. Last year I went crazy and made a ton of the Bon bons for little gifts, they were such a hit!

I also whipped up this stitchery a couple of days ago, to be made into another gift, which I actually finished last night! One OPAM so far for November!!

Yucky weather here today, I will try and get a pic of that tomorrow!
I hope you all are enjoying your weekend.

AQM

Well, I am home! Actually got home on Sunday night, but I have not had the time to post! I know I promised to show you my stitching, but I have not quite finished one of them. I hope to finish the stitching within the next day or two.

AQM.... What can I say..... Loved it! I am really looking forward to next year. Saw lots I wanted hahaha. Can you believe I took only 1 pic the whole time I was there! Shame shame! While checking out Lynette's booth, a little voice behind me said 'Hello Sarah'...... Who on earth was that..... Kerri (or Farm Kerri I say to Dennis lol)! We had been emailing and ringing for such a long time and it was wonderful to meet her in the flesh!

I bought lots of stuff - patterns, buttons, pre-cuts as well as Rosalie Quinlan's and Lynette Anderson's FQ Bundles.... They are SO nice. Well done girls!

Off to get some stuff done!

PS: I still have a huge list of unread emails from when I went away, I am slowly getting them down. So, if you are waiting on a reply, I will get there :+)

Hey!

Long time no post! Yeah, I know sorry!

Since coming home from Port Douglas, well actually, while I was there, I noticed a lump about the size of a 50c piece on the side of my heal. No pain at all, and it doesn't look like I have been bit! When we got back home, a week later I decided to go to the Dr (yeah I know, I should have gone straight away, but I tend not to go to the Dr's very often!!). After one lot of antibiotics, with no effect, they decided to 'blast it' with VERY strong ones for another week which will give me LOTS of nasty side effects (which I must say, I didn't get any!! Cool!!). Went back today and STILL no change! They then decided that I would be their pin cushion for a bit...... But, nothing would come out! Hmmmm...... They are still unsure.... Weird! If it is still there in 2 weeks, off for an ultrasound for me!

Anyway, I have been doing a little bit of stitching, I will share soon, but first wanted to share with you all this GORGEOUS canvas we had done recently. While away in QLD, my Hubby took some awesome pics, with our new SLR camera......

This is one of the water lily's in the fish pond at the hotel..... It is actually a purple colour, the flash makes it look blue:

This was not taken with a Macro lens either!

And look how detailed it is! Clever thing isn't he!

Hanging pride of place in our lounge area!
We have another big weekend coming up..... Off to Melbourne, catching up with my Mum and Dad and we're off to AQM!! How exciting! I cant wait!
Off to charge my camera batteries.......
I hope to pop back and show you my stitching before I head off!

Butterfly Garden

Recently, I had the pleasure of quilting this delightful quilt, Butterfly Garden by Leanne's House for a local lady here in GT! I quilted my freehand butterflies allover and it looked wonderful! I tell you, this quilt is one of my all time favourites, and I do plan to make one myself...... I have the patterns, a FQ Bundle and border fabrics ready, just need time! I should make it my 2011 quilt maybe (or maybe Down In The Garden which I also love, and I have one block done, thanks to Roseanne lol!).... We'll see!

Thankyou Suzi for trusting me with it! It is just BEAUTIFUL!
I have not been too productive lately. And, I have recently been told how many weeks until Xmas...... Can we PLEASE pause time, I am just NOT ready! They say, the older you get, the faster times flies, I really think this is true! At least I can leave some Xmas gifts until the last minute as I have been told that I will have company here!! Looking forward to that!

More holiday

One night, we went to watch the Cane Toad Races (funny!!) at one of the pubs, we stayed a little while after to have a few drinks and found this fella was the entertainment for the night..... He was on Australian Idol a few years back (cant remember his name!), he was very good!

On Saturday, we went for a day trip to visit Cape Tribulation...... such a pretty place! We took a little ferry on the river:

Not only did we see 1 crocodile..... but 3!! Yep! They told us at the beginning, that we may not see any today, as there had not been any sightings, but there were 2 together here (can you see the 2?), and one was further down the river.......

While having some dinner at the resort, we came across some little green frogs....... Cute huh?

The markets were on on Sunday, a little disappointing actually as things were a little over priced and no-one would haggle! Aren't markets all about getting a bargain and negotiation on a price....... Anyway, check out these COOL coconuts! Love that pink lippy lol!

On Friday, we all headed for the Quicksilver Cruise:

We headed out until you could no longer see land to see the coral and fish! Just beautiful! We went down in the little semi submersed subs to check it out..... Took heaps of pics, but they didn't turn out too well!

There were some beautiful fish about! We even got to see a shark while in the sub!
What a lovely place Port Douglas was.....

Port Douglas

I am home! What a wonderful 4 nights in sunny (and HOT) Port Douglas! We had a blast!

We stayed at Rydges, beautiful!!

There was lots of fish, BIG and small swimming about in their BIG pond!

I love this pic, taken as you walk in, on the way to the lounge bar:

We had to walk on the little bridge, over another lovely pond everyday, to our room:

At the entrance:

The ponds were filled with beautiful pink flowers:

Really, such a pretty place! The whole 19 of us had a blast! And, we are in talks about where to go next year..... I did suggest a cruise, not sure if that will eventuate lol! Worth a try hahaha
I shall pop back tomorrow with some other pics of what we did!
