Runner all done!

Here is the pic of my latest creation - Simple Little Runner using the Breakfast at Tiffany's Charm Pack. I love it!

Here it is, sitting pride of place on my coffee table:

I actually finished this last week, but only just got around to ironing it ready to show you all!

And, I actually chose to hand quilted it using the Thimble Lady technique..... click here for a little demo. Just basic, but I love the effect:

I am still plodding along on 'My Garden' Bom, I have now completed the stitching in 3 blocks. I must trace of the last one!

I hope you all are enjoying your week.

Sunday

The weekend has come to an end, and I can tell you it was SO much fun! I totally *love* my quilt! A scrappy effect and so shabby chic! So different to what I would normally choose..... And, Kerry showed me how to mitre my corners.... EASY (says me who has to un-pick one lol).

I am not much of a 'blue' girl, but I love the effect it has on the quilt:

I added an extra border than the original to make it a little bigger as well.
Here we all are with our quilts outside the shop. Don't they all look different?!

This is the 3rd year Kerry has come to teach us a Mystery Quilt, and the 3rd time I have done the workshop. It really is a wonderful weekend! Click here for last years efforts, and here for the year before.
I am sure Vicki, Christine, Pauline and Kerry will be sharing pics of the weekend too.
Thanks Pauline and Kerry for a wonderful weekend! I am really looking forward to next year LOL!

Saturday

I arrived at Pauline's and at our 'spot', and found that Pauline had made us all a bag and sewed in a pocket from the fabrics we are using for our quilt! How nice! And there was even some fabric goodies in the pocket too! Thanks Pauline!

I had fun sewing all my fabrics together and by the end of the day, I nearly sewed all the blocks needed:

I love this section of blocks! We are all still unsure of what the quilt will look like...... Kerry will show us hers later.

Here is Kerry:

And Vicki:

And, Christine:

After the big sewing day, a few of us girls went out for tea, here in George Town at the Pier Hotel. The meal was beautiful and so was the company!

Last day of the workshop today. I wonder what my quilt will look like!

Simple Little Runner

I have decided to hand quilt my Breakfast At Tiffany's Table Runner and I really love how it is turning out! I only have a small section of binding to do and it is finished! Might try to finish it tonight! For the free pattern, of Simple Little Runner (which I must say is not little!) click here.

I am REALLY looking forward to this weekend! I am off to Calico Crossroads on Saturday and Sunday for the Kerry Swain 'Mystery Quilt' Workshop. I went to the first 2 workshops and totally love what I made there and I am really loving the fabrics I chose! I will also be catching up with Vicki and Christine as they are going too! I am sure over the weekend, I will be showing you lots of updates!

Card Trick

Yesterday, I planned to sew up a storm...... borders on the 'secret' quilt (yes girls I have decided - thanks for your opinion), put together some 'My Garden' blocks (so I can show you all) and make the next block for our Friends In Stitching. Well, my morning jobs took longer than I expected and the FIS was the only stitching I managed to do! Oh well, these things happen!
But, I must say I am pretty pleased with Jenny's choice - 'Card Trick':

Such a lovely easy block, though I did manage to un-pick one particular block 3 times!! I placed it down in the right position and sewed it wrong..... 3 times!!!

Feels so good being up to date with these...... Thanks Jenny! Now, only 2 more to go!
My night sewing has been hand quilting my Runner, and it is looking GREAT if I do say so myself! Actually, I am nearly finished, just a few blocks left then the binding!

Design Wall.

Recently, I came across my Design Wall which Dennis put up for me in my sewing room, and found 2 charm packs of Daydreams on it! I totally forgot all about those!

I have had to bring them all down to make way for another project I have been working on. I cant show you all just yet as it is a gift, but I have spent the week I had off work sick, working on it, and this afternoon, I put the top together! 400 x 3 1/2" squares later..... And, I love it!
Tomorrow, I have other sewing planned........ I'll show you later!
I hope you all are enjoying your weekend.

Friendship

Today Roseanne and Myself set out to Launceston to catch up with some friends, Christine and Vicki! We started off in Kings Meadows at Peckish for coffee before heading to Esme's for some craft shopping and to catch up with our friend Leanne! I cant show you what I purchase there, as it is for a special someone!

After spending a bit of time there, we drove to the Exeter Bakery for lunch.
Here are Roseanne, Christine and Vicki at the Bakery:

Next stop to visit another friend Pauline at Calico Crossroads.......

Who is this nut, hoarding all the fabrics?? I think I will get in trouble showing you all this pic...... LOL

So, what was the point of the day (besides some retail therapy, and catch up of course!!)...... to choose our fabrics for our Kerry Swain Mystery Workshop next weekend!

Vicki chose hers...... But you will have to check out her blog to see what her fabric choice was:

Here is Roseanne! Hmmmmm....... STILL drooling all over the fabrics!!

Here we all are, sorting and taking pics of our choices: I am sure Christine will share hers too.......

So, what did I choose.......... Luna Notte by 3 Sisters with a couple extra's thrown in:

I am SO happy with my choice! I am sure they will look fantastic! I wonder what the pattern is???? I am really looking forward to this class, I am very pleased with the other 2 quilts I made! All 3 will be SO different!

Here is a closer look:

Looks great doesn't it?!

Some people are so clever! And, it was my first time quilting Butterflies...... Didn't turn out too bad!!
Such a cold windy day here in George Town! We had a power failure for over 2 hours, got to leave work early, lucky me!!

Breakfast @ Tiffany's:

Remember these fabrics?? 'Breakfast At Tiffany's'. Well, I have been searching for the 'right' pattern to showcase this beautiful fabric range, something that does not require me to cut these squares SO small that you just cant see them all....... And, I came across this BEAUTY!! 'Simple Little Runner', and I must say, this ain't little!! Put some charms together:

Add a thin plain border and some Jumbo ric-rac:

And your set!!
Super easy! And, the effect, just what I wanted! This beautiful pattern was designed by the lovely Camille (yeah, that's probably why I chose it lol) for the Moda Bakeshop site! Pattern available here. Now, should I hand quilt, or machine...... decisions, decisions!!

I am off to finish off my 3rd block for My Garden, I know I have not shown any of these here (I am honestly doing it!!), I have finished the stitching, just have to put them into blocks and do the applique...... I will share, when I get there - honest!!

Friday's sewing........

I told you I finished something! Something I had on my 'to do list' for SO long! I have had the stitchery done for ages and managed to put it together on Friday night:

For the ties, I cut some of the main fabric as I just didn't have the right ribbon! Mind you, I was ready to give up as I just could not get it threaded! I broke 3 pins trying to thread it through....... ended up using my 'Loop Turner' and it worked a treat...... I should have thought of that first lol!
So, that's one project done for Sep!! YAY!

Gift & Raining.......

As I have not done much sewing since moving, both Roseanne and Myself decided to have a sewing night last night...... Roseanne came to stitch a swap gift (so there will be no pics..... though she might share a sneaky pic!)..... I managed to complete something I have had on my 'to do list' for some time, but I will share tomorrow. But, I will share with you all something Roseanne made for me:

A glasses case! Thanks so much Raz! I totally love it xx

Today, we have had nothing but rain, rain and MORE rain!! I tell you, it has been constant! When I opened the blinds this morning, the back yard had a little bit of water laying about, but by this afternoon, there was a 'lap pool' in our back yard!!

This is the worst section:

And, the neighbours block next door (our yard finishes off where the wood lays..... STILL waiting for him to build our fence!!):

Looks like tomorrow is going to be wet too..... I hope it drains off a little before then!
I will be back tomorrow to share my first September finish!

I have been 'Down on the Farm with Keza'..... Well, not REALLY, but that is the name of this block! Chosen and designed by Kerry Swain for our 9th Block in our Group's BOM Challenge!

Hmmm..... I am thinking mine is a little too pale..... What do you think?

Here are all my 9 blocks so far....... I have put block 9 in the centre, doesn't look too bad does it?

Recent stitching.......

And, not my normal kind!! Knitting! Socks!! This sock has taken me 2 whole weeks and it is only just finished!! Geeze, feels never ending lol! Not too sure if I like this pattern as much as the last pair I made, but in the move I cant seem to find the 'nice' pattern GRRR!!

I do however, love the colour!!
I really must get to my sewing machine, I have SO much I want to do, but since moving I have only just managed to do my BOM Blocks!
