Day out and a FINISH

Today was a day out to Latrobe to catch up with our friends Vicki and Christine! Mum, Kate and Myself set off and picked up Roseanne on the way and we were set!

I took tons of pics (good and bad LOL), but tonight I will share what Vicki gave me for out Bag Swap:

How CUTE is this Laptop Bag..... made with NO pattern! Very clever! I totally *love* the handles!

And, the back...... She also made a little detachable bag to put my phone or mouse in! Too cute!

And, here I am with my new bag (pics stolen from Vicki and mine were not as nice!):

Thankyou SO much Vicki! I really, really love my bag! And, thankyou girls for such a great day out xx I will share more pics later as Blogger is playing up with my pics!
So, what is my 4th finish for this month? This lovely Robyn Pandolph quilt! My Mum gave me the kit quite a few Birthdays ago..... I think from memory, about 3!! I am pretty pleased with it:

That's all for tonight, I hope you all have had a wonderful weekend.

The latest swap gift

Our online Group just had our opening night for our Bag Swap. I was making for the lovely Leanne and this is what I chose to make for her, Lynette Anderson's 'The Birdhouse Bag':

We were required to have a stitchery OR needleturn applique (no button hole here) AND use a trim (either ric-rac, lace, frill etc) I decided to add ric-rac to the flap:

I am pretty pleased with it as it was the first time I have done 'crazy patch' (though it looked more like a Log Cabin).... and Leanne LOVED it too which is great!

It was a great swap, and if you would like to see more pics click here, and here.
I am off to Latrobe tomorrow to catch up with Vicki and Christine, so I shall have more to share when I get back.
I hope you all are enjoying your weekend.

Thankyou

As a lot of you all know, yesterday was my Birthday! Thankyou SO much for all the lovely emails, phone calls and SMS's I received :+)

I had a really lovely day..... with LOTS of visitors!
My lovely Hubby popped out and came home with this GORGEOUS bunch of flowers (can you believe ALL my vases are packed and the only thing big enough to take this BIG bunch is a beer jug LOL):

And, while we were over at Pauline's, I spotted this necklace..... Well actually, I had been eyeing it off for a while on her website and thought I would check it out while I was there..... I totally *love* it so Dennis bought it for me!!

(pic stolen from Pauline's site)
Last week we bought ourselves a new Dyson vacuum as our old one 'died'! Took me ALL day to vacume with the old Dyson, it kept on over-heating and turning itself off! I have yet to try it out properly as Dennis had to be the first to try yesterday...... I sure was not going to stop him!! LOL

I received some lovely gifts and today I will show you what Roseanne gave me (I will show you some more over the next day or so):

A couple of FQ's (totally *love* those!!), bag handles, calico bags and on the top left hand side you can just see the 'golf ball' and Teddy thingy..... they are magic face washers...... you place them in water and a face washer will expand to a 30cm sq face washer! Thanks Roseanne!

I hope you all are enjoying your weekend.

Happy Birthday

Today it's Roseanne's Birthday. Every year, we make something for each others Birthday (my B'day is next Sat), BUT, we swap them usually at the end of May - beginning of June! I really must get stuck into her gift! As we usually swap a handmade item, I always like to give a little something on the day, and this is what I gave her......... A French General tape measure in its own little bag (oh and I must say that Mum received on for Mother's Day too...... and so did Kate!):

And, I made Roseanne a ever lasting rose:

With a teeny weeny button in the centre:

Happy Birthday Roseanne, I hope you have had a wonderful day xxxxxx

PS: Roseanne has a little giveaway happening on her blog to celebrate her B'day..... pop on over to enter, but be quick, it ends tonight!! (I reckon she should extend it LOL)

My latest project

This past week, this have been ONE of the projects I have been working on:

And, when I am not working on it, Sophie thinks it is hers!!

Pretty colours, green, pink, yellow, cream - Robyn Pandolph!

It has been sitting in my cupboard with it's binding sewn on since just before we moved here, ready for me to hand sew it down:

So far, I have only just managed to bind only 1 1/2 sides!!
I did have more quilts to show you, but my camera card just died and it wont show the pics on the computer (don't you just hate that!!) GRRR..... Luckily, I knew it was on the way out, and had another ready to go!

Here is a shot from the path to the park nearby:

On the sewing front, I have been doing something that I have never done before..... And, I didn't do too bad either if I say so myself LOL..... Sorry, more on that later!

Happy Mother's Day

I have just got off the phone to Mum, she has received our gift so I can now share here what I made for her :+)

Mum told me AGES ago she wanted the Northern Solitude cushions..... I WAS going to make them for her for her Birthday, but never got around to it, so decided to make them for Xmas, but never did! So, Mother's Day it was! I only just finished them last Tuesday and posted them off on Wednesday.

Here is one, the Kookaburra (taken without the flash for some reason!!):

And, the butterfly (that's a better pic!):

Here is a close up of the border with my needle-turned leaves...... Love that effect!

I posted them to Kate, as she got some cushion inserts for me (thanks Kate xx). The cushions are HUGE! And the funny things is, Mum totally forgot about these cushions!
I got the pattern from this book..... BEAUTIFUL book, full of great projects!
Happy Mother's Day Mum!
I hope you have had a wonderful day
Love Sarah & Dennis (and Sophie) xxx

Quilting, Door & Bits

I have been very slack lately with my blogging I know...... but, I have been busy! Lots of secret squirrel stuff going on.... I can show you some soon (on Mother's Day perhaps LOL - yes Mum, its in the mail).

So, because I cant really show you any of the sewing I have been doing, I will share this quilt I recently quilted. Not a fantastic pic I know, Roseanne was holding it up for me (as she always does when she comes, with little complaint (notice I say little and not none LOL), thanks Raz xx) and it was quite big...... she was reaching up as high as she could and still it sat on the floor:

Turned out a treat!

On house news, the bricking in now finished YAY! I will drop around there tomorrow to get some pics of that and show you all....... In the mean time, here is a pic of the entrance door (mind you, it is NOT going to be that colour hahaha):

Oh, and I thought I would mention....... My online store is having a great sale for the Month of May..... Any 3 patterns for $40 and FREE post (excludes Amy Butler and BOM's!) I have a HUGE selection to choose from. Click here to check it out.
Ok, that's me for tonight

Block 5

'Virginia' block chosen by Dawnie! Here is my block:

Dawnie sure set us a challenge as this pattern had some 'set in seams'! I didn't even know what that was..... and it was a little bit fiddly, but well worth the effort as I am pretty chuffed with my block!
I hope you all enjoying your weekend

I am here!!

I know it has been a while.... Not like me at all is it! I have been here, just been a bit busy!
I haven't really done a lot of sewing this past week (though I finished a stitchery for a bag swap I am in), and I have put together this quilt top (last weekend actually):

Turned out quite well I think!

It is not needed for a few months yet, so it will just be a top for a little while longer! I do have kits available here if you are interested. I have also just finished our FIS block, and will share that tomorrow. I have just realised it is Mother's Day NEXT weekend.... thought I had 2 weeks!! Better get cracking!!
Enjoy your weekend
