The other day, while at the book store I came accross this book:

It had my name all over it LOL! This book is a great buy! You get the kit to make the bag on the cover (but haven't checked yet weather it has the lining too - doubt it!).
Here are some of the projects in the book...... The Quilted Purse:

The Shopper Bag:

A Hot Water Bottle Cover:

My favourite, the Jewellery roll:

This book has a whopping 41 projects in it! All, lovely, easy and quick type of projects.... great projects for gifts!

YAY no work tomorrow!

Mail and a little show and tell

Look what I got in the mail! An Elm Creek Quilts Album - book 4, 5 and 6 (thankyou for all your advice on where to purchase these books, I will be searching each and every one of those places when I am ready to get the next instalment!)!! I have been SO good and haven't even opened it yet...... I have too many projects that need my attention at the moment, so, I know that if I start, I wont be able to put it down..... Meaning I wont want to stitch, then there would be some disappointed people here, here and here and that is just the start of my ever-increasing UFO pile!!

And, as promised, here is one of the recent quilts I have quilted for a customer. This is a bright and cheery flannel quilt. Just a simple loop design:

Turned out a treat!
Best be off. Enjoy your night

Quilting and Update for DAD

I have been doing HEAPS of quilts lately for some ladies around here, this one being Mrs. GM. This was an Easter Gift for a friend of Mrs. GM - how lucky!!:

Nice fabrics! This is from the Madeira by Blackbird Designs range (I have a Jelly Roll here of that range, I really must make something from it!!).

I have some more pics of others, and will show you later in the week.
Here are some pics for Dad - HI Dad xx (and to anyone else interested LOL). Mum tells me that Dad checks my blog for house updates, so I went over today to take some pics:
The roof is on, windows in, and silver paper (blue paper actually) is on..... next step, bricking? Hopefully this week!

Here is a shot from the front door (Dennis & Sophie in the lounge room!):

Front and side view:

And, our entertaining 'alfresco' area!! YAY!!

Well, that's it for today. I hope you enjoying your weekend! I have done a little bit of sewing..... made 20 stars (need 30), started on my FIS Bag Swap, finished the Blush Blocks..... sorry Mum, haven't started the Mother's Day gift LOL

It's the end and the beginning

Today, I finished that book - the 3rd Novel 'Cross-Country Quilters' and I *loved* it, actually, I *loved* the whole 3 of them! Looking forward to the next one to arrive (Elm Creek Quilts Album which contains books 4, 5 & 6), which hopefully will be at the end of the week or early next! Thankyou all SO much for helping me with the info on all the books!

So, what shall I do now? Start a Mother's Day Gift? A Birthday Gift? The FIS Bag Swap? Or this Nancy Halvorsen Star Quilt (which is due in August, but the fabrics are SO nice that I am SO looking forward to starting)?

A bit early for Christmas

A bit early for Christmas, but, I HAD to have this book! 'Dreaming Of A White Christmas' by my wonderful friend, Kerry Swain!

I received it in the mail today...... and excitedly ripped open the envelope to check out the book! LOTS of lovely 'retreat' recipes (and found mine and Christine's favourite 'Date Slice' recipe there too - YUMMO)

Also, filled with tons of great patterns too..... really love this table runner and I think this will be the first project I make from the book!!

If you *love* Snowmen, you will love this book..... lots of softies, bags, fabric cards, little thread bins (I had made a few of here), stitchery & punch needle projects just to name a few!
Kerry, you have done a wonderful job on this book, your photography is just beautiful xx

PS: If you are interested in this book, pop over to Kerry's blog and email her....... She is also offering FREE post if you order this book this month!

Lately.....

I have not been doing to much stitching this last week, as I have been too busy reading 'An Elm Creek Quilts Sampler'!

I purchased this a Easter Saturday. It was in a Launceston Book Store on one of the front tables. I have seen it around the blogs/web for a while and thought about getting myself a copy. So, while in the book shop, I held onto it, deciding....... deciding........ ok! MINE!! Anyway, while I was enjoying it so much, I decided to buy the next 2 books in the series online - only to find out, when I got through a 1/3rd of this book, the next novel was included!! Bugger! On further inspection, I realised that the first 3 novels were in this book (it does say it on the cover, but silly me thought it just meant 3 stories!! DUH)! Luckily, the online store I purchased those books from has a chain in Launceston and they have told me that I can return them PHEW!! Then, last night, I decided to buy the 4th book in the series..... when I can across 'Elm Creek Quilts Album' which contained books 4, 5 and 6!! The book actually cost a little more than a 1 single book - so they are a great bargain! Not sure if the following books are together like these first two..... anyone know?

I hope you are enjoying your weekend.

WooHoo it's finished!

Well, I actually finished it over the Easter Break, but have only just got around to showing you all!

The 'Vintage Sewing Cushion'. Hasn't it turned out beautiful?!

Side view:

My stitching:

Now, I must show you this...... Roseanne came around the other day and I showed her the cushion! She could not believe how big it was! So, I decided to take a pic of the cushion with something that every quilter has - the rotary cutter, to show you all how big it actually is. It looks like it is hanging over the side, but it is not, its just the angle of my photo....

I totally love how it turned out, and cant believe I actually finished the stitchery in January and have only just got around to putting it together!! Now, I must get myself some vintage bits and bobs to put in the pockets LOL!
If you are interested in a pattern, kit or even the trim pack (buttons, lace and ric-rac), pop over to Tereasa's shop, she will help you out with that!
Better get going, get some tea on before Hubby comes home!

Another April Finish and EXCITING news!

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter! Yes, the Easter Bunny hopped into my home and left me some goodies - YUM! While I had a lovely 5 days off, doing the normal home duties, I did manage to fit in quite a lot of *ME* stitching! And, this is one of the projects I have just completed:

Mind you, I finished that stitchery a month (or two) ago! I quite like it in the red! I plan to put this away for a gift later on in the year!

So, what is my exciting news?! Well, when I got to work this morning, there was a notice on the board in the lunch room from our employers telling us that they are offering us all a 4 night trip to Cairns in Oct..... ALL expenses paid (apart for 2 nights tea!!), we are going on a cruise one day, a bus trip another.......... Partners have to pay, but is SO cheap!! WOW!! You can imagine the buzz around the place today!
I hope your day has been as exciting!!

Today............ Happy Easter

Today I have had quite a lazy day! Just pottering around and actually done some baking!
For lunch today, I made these Savoury Scones:

They are not make the usual way:
4C SR Flour
300ml Cream
375ml Soda Water (I used Lemonade)
1/2C with a mix of onion, bacon, cheese, pepper and herbs.
Sift SR Flour into a bowl, place all the other ingredients in and mix well to make a dough. Kneed slightly and roll out and cut with a scone cutter. Place into a 200deg oven until just lightly brown!
Makes approx 18 (I made a double batch)

Easy peasy and SO light and fluffy!

And, I didn't stop there! I also made these mini Lemon Cheesecakes too!

I had these last time I was in Burnie at Vicki's home. Christine made them and we all loved them! I have made them quite afew times since, very hand to keep in the freezer to take to work!
Here is what you need:
250g Cream Cheese, Softened
280g Jar Lemon Butter
8 Butternut Snap Cookies (though I have tried them with other sweet biscuits and they work just fine too)
Line 8 holes of a Muffin Tray with Muffin cases, place the biscuit's flat side up in each. Using an electric mixer, beat cheese until creamy, then add the lemon butter. mix until nice and creamy. Spoon mixture onto biscuit's and freeze for 2-3hours or until firm. 5 mins before serving, remove paper and serve with a dollop of cream and some raspberries on top! YUMMO!!
Makes 8 (and yes, I made a double batch!)

I hope your day has been eggcellent as mine!
