Work & Play

It has been 5 days since my last post..... Not like me!! I have actually been quite busy the last few days! I have had a lot of new stock arrive for my online store which I have FINALLY finished uploading onto the site and I have managed to finish the hand stitching on my Vintage Sewing Cushion (might get to do some more on that the next few days), so I needed another night time hand sewing project! So, I have been working on this:

You can probably tell what it is! Want to know what it is for? Hmmmm...... Maybe, just MAYBE it might have something to do with my 3 year BLOGOVERSARY!! Yes, I have been here for 3 whole years in 6 days! It has just flown by SO quick! More on that soon!!

Tonight, I am on afternoon/night shift - my last one for a little while so we have all been told! Which is sort of a good thing in a way..... no more weird sleeping/eating patterns... but, I do find I get more done when on that shift! So really, both have their up and down points! As it is Australia Day on Tuesday, we at work will be having Monday off as well and with us all not working Friday's, it works out we all have 5 days off!! I am SO looking forward to that - I need it after just 2 weeks back at work from my Xmas break - its a hard life LOL!

Might get just a little bit more stitching done before I head off for another day at work!

Enjoy your day

Todays craft:

I spent the afternoon at my SIL Judy's place as she held a Stampin Up Party with Martyn! I love these workshops.... you actually get to make something there to take home, and the things you make are awesome!!

Today, we all made a 'Friendship' card..... though Melissa decided to make a Valentine Card for her Boyfriend!

Here is my card:

There were LOTS of great ideas in their new Mini Catalogue..... I had to make some purchases of course LOL!

I didn't bother getting my camera out as Roseanne was snapping away (so if you would like to see more pics, pop over to her blog as I am pretty sure she will put them all up!), she sent me some of the pics she took, this being one of them:

Cheeky little mouse don't you think?!! Made by Judy (the one that gave me to Reindeer Poop for Xmas!).

Looks like rain tomorrow, great weather for stitching..... Come to think of it, any weather is stitching weather LOL
x Sarah
PS: To Judy, who commented on my last post, you are a no-reply blogger so I am unable to email you back, the shop I purchased my Vintage Sewing Cushion kit was this store. And, I must say that this cushion is not small, I have measured the template base and it is 10" across - so once sewn it is approx 9 1/2" wide!!

Sunset

The other night, I was taking the weekly rubbish out (as you do) and when I looked up into the sky, I seen this beautiful Sunset..... I ran inside to grab the camera!

The pics turned out lovely!

I am still stitching away on my cushion, it is coming along slowly, but surely!

Block Keeper

I have wanted to make myself one of these roll Block Keepers for SO long, and one day while in 'chat', Teresa told us they were SO easy to make without a pattern. So, she posted a little tutorial for us in our Group......

Here is mine:

I don't usually like novelty fabrics, but this one is just BEAUTIFUL! I purchased it when I was in Hervey Bay late last year and had plans to make a bag from it (though I still have enough to make myself one if I want!):

The stripe fabric, I bought at the same time to make that bag......

And, I am already using it! I do have one of those book style block keepers, but that is 'occupied' at the moment (with Truly Scrumptious!)
I made a pin cushion for both ends, though I think it is a little small...... I also attached a pull tab, to make is easier to pull out the stopper thingy!

This project was one I decided I was going to make while on holidays.... And, I started it on my very last day lol! I just finished attaching the binding on Monday night!

THANKYOU Teresa for sharing this pattern with us, it was SO much fun, and SO quick too!..... If you all pester her enough, she might share this with you all on her blog???
I hope you all are enjoying your day
x Sarah
PS: I also wanted to say, thankyou to everyone who sent me emails and comments for my Vintage Sewing Cushion.... It has been SO nice! If you are interested in purchasing the pattern or even the kit, I bought mine from THIS shop, Tereasa is very helpful and very prompt with her service! I just ordered my lace, doily, ric,rac last week and it has already arrived! I am not sure if it is actually listed on the site, but Tereasa has told me she does have some available!

Look what I got!!

How luck am I?! Today's mail bought me this BEAUTIFUL pre-printed TILDA stitchery and thread along with a lovely card from the wonderful May Britt! This is my December OPAM Challenge prize! I was SO excited!!

It is a little hard to see, but the stitchery says 'My house may be small, but there's room for you all'.....

I just *love* it! Thankyou SO much May Britt!.... and to Kris for the wonderful work you both did last year with the Challenge. I am looking forward to this years effort with both Peg and Kris! My Mum even joined the challenge this year too.... We will see how she goes hehehehe

I am still yet to take some pics of that finish I have been talking about.... Hope to do that tomorrow :o)

BOM Block

Firstly, Anni, who commented on my Sewing Cushion, could you please email me. you are a No-Reply commenter and I cant get in touch with you. I am trying to follow Chookyblue's advice and only open emails when I have time to email back..... It is hard when someone asks a question and as they are set at NO-REPLY, I can not email them back. If you comment, and I don't email you back, please check Chookyblue's tutorial to see if you are set correctly, see here.

Our Online Sewing Group are doing a BOM Challenge. The first block being called 'Capital T' - chosen by Me because my maiden name starting with a 'T'. Can you see the 4 T's?

I am doing my BOM from my scrap basket - no new purchases for this! I was thinking of actually going for the Rouenneries fabrics, but there are two ladies already doing this - luckily I chose to be STRONG!! lol

Pretty pleased with the way it turned out!

Looking forward to February's Block!!

First day back at work after a 3 week break..... What a drag.... too hot and am SO glad to be home! Easy tea tonight and I am going to put my feet up and finish that project I started on yesterday!!

Latest project

Here are some pics of my latest project that I am working on. I started this at our Burnie Stitch In and this is my night stitching at the moment. It is a Vintage Sewing Cushion:

Most of the plum stitching has been done, have to add the cream, then I can put it together!

Here is what it is supposed to look like! I have ordered the lace, doily, buttons and ric-rac to match! It is SO pretty! I have had this pattern for SO long, and now Christmas is over, I can get something done for *ME*

Today, I have been given my sewing machine a good work-out! Looks like I will have another finish by tomorrow! Show you then!
My last day of holidays today, back to reality tomorrow!
I hope you all have enjoyed your weekend

The Dreaded ZIP project

I have ALWAYS steered clear of zip projects (though I can remember once I made Mum a bag and purse with one, and I did have a little bit of trouble, but it did work in the end!). While going through one of Roseanne's Tilda Books, I fell in love with this make-up bag.... it was SO cute! So, when we were down in Burnie - I 'stole' it lol......(Well, I told her I was going to......) I decided on Wednesday night that I was going to make it. Then I was chatting to Roseanne on MSN and she decided she will have a go of the zip too and would come round to make it with me. She rang me about 15 Min's later, in a panic, saying she must have left the book at Burnie.... Oops.... I had it didn't I! Hehehehe.... She must not of heard me say that I was going to steal it!!

Anyway, all's good! I decided to make a plain one first to make sure that I could actually do it - I would have hated spending the time to do a pretty front, only to bugger it up!

And, it actually turned out quite well!

So, I have a few more zips and am going to have a play with some pretty applique/stitchery bags. I might do what Bec did last year, and start making a Xmas stash........
I hope you all are enjoying your Saturday!

I have a finish!

My online sewing Group, 'Friends In Stitching' sent me this kit last year for my Birthday and the challenge was to complete this project before 3rd March 2010. I just *love* it!

Here is the inside, and I have already put it to use:

This was SO much fun to make..... I might make another one or two to put away for gifts........
Thankyou Girls xx
I have also finished another project, just a quick little project - to test putting a DREADED zipper in............ More later!

There has been a deliberately lit bush fire that has been raging here in York Town in Northern Tasmania the last few days! On the weekend, here in George Town, was a little smokey from it! Then, today while we were driving home from Launceston, we could see that it was getting quite bad again..... I took some pics from the car!

Here is a pic from Mount Direction:

And, Batman Bridge turnoff:

Lets hope they get it under control SOON!!

Yesterday's 'Stitch In'!

Yesterday both Roseanne and Myself set of early for our trip to Burnie to catch up with some friends for a sewing day! On the way, we stopped at Ulverstone for a cuppa and to check out the Patchwork Store - Cranberry Crafts! they have some lovely stuff there! I totally LOVE this bag, which I bought the pattern and panel to make it:

So, here is my loot! Fabric & Ric Rac to make a Leanne's House Doily, Bucket Handles, Sewing Machine Tin, Cards, DMC as well as the bag patterns and panel:

When we were walking back to the car.... I spotted this! NO NOTE either! I can tell you, there were MANY swear words! In my fluster, I took a wrong turn and ended up doing the scenic route through Penguin to Burnie! Luckily it is only the guard damage and only scraped (not dented) so it should not be too much of a drama to fix - but still! GRRRR

Anyway, once we arrived at Vicki's home, we were greeted by Vicki as well as Christine and Christine! And, this young lady - Ellie! Isn't she just SO cute! Every time I talked to her, she just rolled on her back wanting a belly rub lol!

Here we all are (apart from me, though Vicki has some on her blog!), From Left: Christine L, Christine M, Roseanne, Christine T and Vicki!

Here is Roseanne stitching away...... and Christine T checking out Roseanne's Blog Book which she bought with her to show off! And, it really is great!

Here is Vicki and Christine, sewing away:

Lunch was just delicious..... mini egg & bacon pies, asparagus wrapped in bread, Pumpkin dip (was SOOOOO yummy!), Focaccia bread, and of course... Fairy Bread lol! Christine T even made us all mini lemon cheesecakes which was SO scrummy - she got the recipe from the RED 4 Ingredients cookbook... You should try it! I bought with me some Date Scones for afternoon tea, bought from the local bakery here in GT before I left.... these are HUGE and so yummy!
It was such a fun day, thankyou ladies, I had a ball! I hope we can do it again sometime!

PS: I will have to take a pic of the new project I worked on for the day............

How excited am I?! I just found out that I am the December winner for the OPAM Challenge for December! WOW!! Only one more week left of my holidays and I have hardly stitched anything..... today things changed and I managed to work on a project..... more on that later!

New Years Day travels

I hope your New Years Eve festivities were fantastic!

Ours was a quite one, at home playing the newly acquired WII (LOVE it!!) and cards with Roseanne as her Hubby was away! It turned out to be a fun night actually (I whipped her butt in cards lol).

So, on New Years Day Dennis and Myself decided to go for a run 'over the river'. It is such a pretty scenic drive! Here are some of the pics I took on the way. Here is Gravelly Beach:

And, Rosevears.

This pic here is actually where some of our wedding pics were taken:

We stopped off at Grindelwald. I love this place, it is SO pretty! It is Swiss style village, here is a pic of the main entrance to the shopping village:

Lake Louise:

This is a pic from the tower of the shopping village:

Part of the Mini Golf:

Before we headed off, we stopped at the Chocolate Cafe for an ice-cream...... look at all this Chocolate YUMMO!!

As for that block I was talking about doing, well that is still sitting here waiting to be put together.... got a little sidetracked lol!
I hope you all enjoyed your very first day of the New Year!
