The Campania Gathering

Today was spent at The Crow's Gathering at Campania! It was such a lovely day. This was one of the projects on offer - a Leanne's House pattern and what I started on the day (though I didn't get much done as I was feeling a little 'off'!)

Here is a pic of the hall, filled with ladies eager to start their day in the lovely hall:

Leonie and Deidre set up their shop - The Quilted Crow on the stage:

It was very nice to see Leanne's first 2 BOM's in 'person' (and some of us got a sneak peep at her new BOM coming out soon and I must say it is just GORGEOUS!!). I also got to have a look at her Leanne's Quilters Journal, it really did look fantastic, I think it might have inspired me to get back into mine again!

As the day was a Christmas Theme, all the tables were set with these prim tree's - cute huh?!

As it was also Halloween, some of the girls dressed the part for a little while and Cathy bought along a 'furry friend', here it is with Deidre (btw, check out those shoes):

COOL!! Here is a close up...... LOL!!

And, here is a pic of Helen, Rosie, Leanne, Jo and *Me* at the end of the day:

I still have pics to share - of the projects, and will pop back tomorrow and post those - I am a bit buggered, so it wont be long and I will be in bed! Jo, Fiona, Cathy, Leanne, Christine and Lisa (who I met for the first time today :+) might have more pics to share in the mean time..........
Thankyou girls for a fantastic day, as always xx

Quilting & Packing

Tomorrow is the start on my 4 days off! Friday is my normal day off and Monday here in Tassie is a Public Holiday! Tomorrow will be spent quilting a quilt on my frame, and doing some household chores! Saturday however, will be spent in Campania where the girls from the Crow will hold their Gathering! Guest tutors for the day are Leanne Beasley and Rosalie Quinlan! I am really looking forward to that! I have started to get my bits and bobs ready to go..... a BIG bag, my sewing bag and of course my little tidy bin (don't go to these days without it!!):

I must remember to charge my camera (I have been taking heaps of pics lately and would hate, HATE, it to run flat while there!!).

Best be off,

'Wild Thing' you make my heart sing..............

Here it is - Kristy's Birthday quilt! I went out to the beach today (before I gave it away) to take some pics and they turned out great!

This quilt is made using 2 Moda Charm Packs and I made this one using the Simple Abundance range! I totally *love* it and will have to make myself one too I think!

And, I must show you some close ups of my quilting...... flowers & loops - this is the first try of flowers and I am very pleased with the way they turned out!

And, in the outside borders I decided to 'experiment' and do some swirly things and it turned out ok too!

Kristy loved it which was great! She was a little shocked as I had teased her and told her I was making a Table Runner lol!
On other news, to all you Tassie Bloggers (or Tassie readers), there are 2 spots left in the Kerry Swain Workshop for November..... now this is GREAT fun. A full weekend of sewing, no ironing or cutting involved! I went last year and had a ball! If you are interested contact Pauline from Calico Crossroads. Also, Pauline is nearly up to her 100th post, so she is having a Giveaway to celebrate - pop on over to her blog to see what you have to do...... easy peasy!

Show results

First prize!! How exciting! My Yuletide Faerie won first prize at the local show! You may remember that I made 2 of these recently, one for Helen and one for myself! The pattern for her was in the Xmas In July edition of Homespun and the designer was Country Keepsakes:

Here she is, with her 'sash' looking pretty pleased with herself!

And, I won 2nd prize for this:

Buttons & Bows designed by the lovely Gail Pan! This was one of the Evendale Winter Gathering patterns Gail designed for the day.

Remember this quilt? It was a joint effort with Roseanne helping me make this for my in-laws (her parents) for their 50th Wedding Anniversary. We both pieced it all together and done some applique and then I hand quilted it:

We thought it turned out pretty good, so decided to enter it in the show as well..... and we won 2nd prize!! How exciting! I was thinking of sewing the ribbon on the back, across ways - one edge sewn in the bottom corner and the other edge on the side...... what do you think?

You can imagine my surprise when I returned home to find 3 ribbons waiting for me - though I only really have half of the Anniversary Quilt lol! I was pretty 'chuffed'!
This afternoon was spent putting some borders on a quilt I am working on, but cant really show you all just yet.... in time :+)
I have drawn out the winners of my Store's Giveaway, I will not post the winners just yet, as I will contact them first...... Keep an eye out, it may be YOU!!

A Special Gift

As most of you know, while I was away my SIL Roseanne was looking after my online store for me! She did a fantastic job, and I really appreciated it! As a thankyou, I decided to make her a gift package up. I gave it all to her on Thursday, this is what she received:

I made one of these lovely doilies....... A Leanne's House pattern and is new out (I have made 2 of these - one being for a shop sample):

While shopping at one of the many craft shops I stopped at, I picked up this cute note pad and card - designed by the lovely Helen from Hugs n Kisses:

I also popped into the bag this HUGE Beach House Pin Cushion as I knew she had always liked them:

Another little bag, like the other 3 I made (so now 4 in total lol). I made this using Nancy Halverson fabrics which I purchased from The Quilters Shack at Bundy....... YUMMY:

Here are all the bags I made while away..... all given a new home! Must make myself one I think!!

I am glad she loved her gifts....... I wonder if she will do it all again sometime LOL!
I would also like to thankyou everyone who made a purchase from my store while I was away. I am yet to do my September Giveaway, which I shall do tomorrow, and have decided that for every order purchased while I was away for those 3 weeks shall go in the draw to win something too! I shall post the winners both on my site and blog sometime on the weekend..... goodluck!
Tomorrow I shall post about my win's from the show (I am yet to take pics with the ribbons).
Enjoy your night

I'm back!! I have SO many blogs and emails to catch up on, so if you have sent me a message, I will get there lol

While staying at Mum & Dad's, I have managed to do some sewing! I made 3 of these little sewing bags! These are SO quick and easy to make!

Here is one that I made for Kate:

And, the one I made for Mum:
Nan was eyeing these off and I secretly made one for her too:

So, I have 3 finishes for October.... so far! I do have more to share and will post tomorrow about a 'thankyou' gift for someone special! And, I received a lovely surprise when I got home..... I won some placements at the local show! Will share that too, soon - don't want to overload now and have nothing to share for a while LOL

Beautiful Betsy

Today, our last full day here on holidays, was spent with Betsy! Not too far away from Mum and Dad's place (about 100ks or 2 1/2hrs as it is such a bad road and you need a 4WD!!) there is a plane wreck from 1945!

My brother had told me about this place last week, and we were very intrigued by it!

I had mentioned it to Dad and he seemed keen too, he mentioned to one of his mates and he wanted to go too! So, we headed off this morning......

This place was just AWESOME! I am so glad we went, it is worth the trip! Its not everyday that you actually seen remains from a plane crash from that long ago! There was bits from the plane scattered around everywhere. Most of this has been un-touched. You could easily spend the whole day there.

The wreckage of "Beautiful Betsy" was not discovered until 49 years later on 2 August 1994, when park ranger, Mark Roe, was checking the results of a controlled burn-off in the Kroombit Tops National Park, about 80kms from Gladstone. Standing on an escarpment, he saw something glinting in the sunlight about 800 metres north of his location. He found the wreckage of "Beautiful Betsy" which had crashed on the side of an unnamed hillside.
There were 8 men killed in the crash.......

If you would like to read about this place, click here.
Tommorow we head back home, so I shall pop back Thursday with some of my 'holiday craft'!

The Quilters Shack and meeting a special lady

On the way back from Hervey Bay we stopped at a few places.... Childers, Howard, Bundaberg etc. One place I was REALLY looking forward to visiting while away on holidays was this shop:

This shop is just GORGEOUS!! Filled to the brim with delicious fabrics, kits, quilts, patterns, bags, bears! I purchased some fabric as well as this cute mug, which I must take a pic of to show you all!

You may wonder why I was really looking forward to seeing this shop....... My lovely friend Jenny works there! We had never met 'in person' before, we were both members of a craft forum quite afew years back, and now we are members of a online craft group which has been runninf for the last few years, so we had got to know one another through both those! It was SO nice to finally meet her in person!

I was SO great to finally meet you in person Jen!
