Sneeky Peeky and a B'day

I would like to wish Jen a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I hope you have had a fantastic relaxing day, plenty of cake too xx

On the sewing front, I am doing bits and pieces. I have quite a few 'top secret' projects going on at the moment, so today I thought I would show you a little peek at one of them:

The colours are so pretty don't you think?!

I am really looking forward to the Quilted Crow Gathering at Campania this Saturday! Guest tutors for the day are Natalie Ross and Helen Stubbings and they have some gorgeous designs for us! My travel buddies are Cathy and her friend Sue, and I know there will be quite a few Tassie Bloggers there............

This pic is straight after I took it off my quilt frame:

I quilted using a cream/red/brown variegated thread. Here is a couple of close ups of my quilting - freehand swirls and stars...... my favourite!

It is raining here today and it is cold - AND my heat pump has not been working since we had a power failure on Friday night......... BRRRRR Luckily we have another small heater right by our study lol

Well, actually..... it is not a complete finish, but it is block 2 of the Breast of Friends Quilt!! FINALLY!! Jules will be so proud lol! I went through all my DMC threads when I went to start the stitchery I found I had 2 missing!! PANIC!! So, after an emergency email to Pauline, she popped them in the post for me!! Thanks so much, your an 'Angel'!! So, I was able to finish off the stitchery on the weekend like I had hoped...... but, wasn't till the Monday that I managed to put the borders on and the stitch the beaded necklace!

Pauline, has just stocked Threadbare Creations patterns, so I just could not resist in buying this one!!

Lots of progress here:

I have been SO productive this weekend - no actual finishes, but I managed to get a few projects to their next stage!

I had this Cotton Blossoms lap quilt on my frame since last weekend:

And, now it is all quilted ready for the binding!! I am really happy with the way it has turned out, the colours are just gorgeous! The pattern is called Ace of Cakes and uses a Layer Cake and some white (I used cream as I thought white just didnt look right!) yardage for the flying geese.
I am looking forward to Bonnie & Camille's next range of fabrics Simple Abundance.

I think I will bind it in the Burgundy!
I might pop back later, in a few days to show you some sneak peeks, and a finish!!
Until then,

Good Friday update:

You may have noticed that I have a new 'Breast Of Friends' button on my sidebar..... The other day I received a lovely email from Catherine Sanchez from Homespun asking if I would like to attach this lovely button to my blog and link it to the Mag to show that I am participating in this fantastic BOM!! She also informs me that there is also a forum on the website where women are consulting about their BOMs so hop on there and you’ll be able to see everybody’s different blocks. So, if you are doing this lovely BOM and have not had an email from Catherine, please feel free to take it and add it to your sidebar:

As I have STILL only done the very first block, I decided to get number 2 ready to go..... here it is:

So, this is what I will be working on for my 'night time' sewing....... I wonder how long it will take me??!!
I hope you are enjoying your Good Friday.......
Until tomorrow

Quillow all finished

I finished Will's Quillow in the nick of time...... It was his 1st Birthday on Wednesday and I actually finished it on the day!! The fabric I used was called 'Dinosaur Uproar' which is great for a boy as it has dinosaurs and bugs! I used a Jelly Roll and some yardage for the border.

Here is the pillow pocket on the back - which is great to put your feet in to keep them warm:

It came up well actually considering all the trouble I had...... I really like the effect of tying a quilt too - makes it looks SO snuggy!! Here is a pic of the back:

And all folded up, I used half the Dinosaur Uproar panel. It is a nice fit:

4 days off!! I have decided to post every day over the Easter Break, I have SO many projects on the go at the moment, and I might show you some sneak peaks!!

Until tomorrow

Fabric postcard

If you are a regular reader of Leanne's blog, you will know that she LOVES fabric postcards!! It was no surprise when she decided to make Leanne's House Postcard Quilt from the book Romancing the Roadtrip. I was privileged enough to make her a postcard block for her 'Friendship Quilt'!!

Here is my block which I finished off and sent back to her recently:

Leanne asked us to write a little message on the postcard, and I decided on a little 'sewing verse' for mine which read: 'In the crazy quilt of life, I'm glad you are in my block of friends'. It was such a nice stitchery to do. I am really looking forward to seeing her quilt together.

A new sewing project and the 'WINNER'

What a weekend!! I had planned to sew up a storm this weekend..... with Dennis working I will have no interruptions and decided that I had to finish off this Quillow for a friends little boy's 1st Birthday on Wed!! It was sitting on my sewing desk for a little while now - just the top..... all I had to do was add the borders.... layer, sew all sides add pillow - I have made plenty of these before so........ easy peasy!! NOT!! This pattern is called Turnabout and it so quick and easy, but, I found it SO hard adding the borders as the blocks are cut on the bias, everytime I added them I seemed to stretch the blocks..... GRRR!! After 8 attempts at the very first border (that is NO joke, I did it 8 times!!) I decided it was the best I could get it! I was trying to do it for hours last night and all morning today.......... now, I have all borders on, the pillow is attached and it is all sewn up - ready for the 'tying'. As these quillows have the pillow pocket I find it a little hard to quilt, so tie it instead, which I will be doing over the next couple of nights!

Once I have finished it, I will post a closeup pic and some pics of the pillow part! This project Roseanne and Myself were going to do together as she wanted to make one of these for one of her GS, but this b'day came round so quick that I just had to do it myself...... Roseanne has started though!!

Now, finally onto my giveaway for the Teddy Tidy Bin:

The Random Number has chosen comment number 29:

So, that makes the 'winner' the one and only Kerry Swain!! WooHoo!! Congratulations Kerry, I will post your little Tidy off to you this week....... enjoy
